Pull The String Productions’ Classes teach scenic improvisational techniques that focus on preparing the student for on stage performance. Each class level stresses a set of progressive skills that we believe add depth and interest to the basic improvised scene.
Performance Level I: No previous experience or prerequisites are necessary to enroll in PL I. This class begins with an overview of PTSP's philosophy of improv. PL I will focus on how to begin a scene, basic character work, and fundamental acting techniques including an introduction to object work.
Performance level II: Performance Level II prerequisites are participation in PLI or other appropriate improv training some onstage performance experience is desirable. Classes will focus on specific skills learned in PLI. Strong and varied character development, strengthening confidence on stage and maintaining scene continuity will be stressed. Strengths will be accentuated and undesirable habits identified and broken.
Both levels are structured as six 2.5 hour classes and a 2.5 hour intensive application workshop. The first six sessions will be taught by PTSP teachers and the lab intensive will be taught by professional guest instructors from the acclaimed Annoyance Theatre in Chicago. The Annoyance is located in uptown Chicago and has been home to such performers as Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Scott Adsit, to mention a few. All or our professional instructors are currently teaching and performing in Chicago.
The cost, including all classes and the intensive workshop is $220. A discount of $20 will be given for early registration on or before April 1st.
